Illustrator to PNG

Adobe Illustrator (.ai) is Adobe's proprietary format for vector graphics. By default it only opens in Illustrator, which costs $20+/month. Most viewers, browsers, and image apps don't know how to render it. This tool uses a server-side renderer to open the file and export it as PNG so you can view, share, or use it anywhere.

We don't run Illustrator — we use a conversion service that reads .ai files (which are PDF-compatible since Illustrator CS) and renders them as PNG. You don't pay anything; we keep it free as part of our toolset. No signup, no watermark, no paywall.

Every PNG is rendered at 4× screen resolution (~400 DPI), which is print-quality. That's enough for posters, retina displays, and large-format prints. We picked one high-quality default so you don't have to think about it.

Each artboard becomes its own PNG. After conversion you'll see them in a gallery, with a 'Download all' button that grabs every page in one click.

Yes — by default we strip white backgrounds, which is what almost every logo file expects. If your file is on a non-white background and you'd prefer to keep it, let us know via the X handle on the homepage and we'll add a control.

Up to 50 MB for the input .ai file. Most logo and icon files are well under 1 MB; complex multi-artboard files can hit a few MB.

Yes — the renderer reproduces the file faithfully, including paths, gradients, transparency, and embedded images. Note that the output is a flat raster image (PNG), so it's no longer editable as vectors. If you need editability, convert to SVG instead (on the roadmap).

Generally yes. Illustrator has saved .ai files in PDF-compatible mode by default since CS (2003). Very old files (Illustrator 8 or earlier, pre-2000) may not convert cleanly. If your file fails, try opening it in Inkscape and re-saving, or DM us on X.

PNG is the most common ask (transparency support, web-ready). JPG and SVG variants are on our roadmap as separate tools. SVG keeps the vector data (editable in Figma, Inkscape, Sketch) — useful if you want to keep working on the file.

Your .ai file is uploaded over HTTPS to a secure conversion service, processed in memory, and the resulting PNG is returned via a time-limited download link. The link expires automatically and the file is deleted from the conversion service's storage. We don't keep your file or the output after the download is complete.

Yes. The drop zone and download work on mobile, though .ai files are typically a desktop workflow (you usually receive them from a designer).
